St. John’s Greek Festival – 2011

St. John’s Greek Orthodox 8th Annual Greek Festival

Opa!  Kaloselthate (Welcome) to the Greek Festival at St. John’s!  There is plenty of Greek culture in food, entertainment, and shopping!   Food includes souzoukakia (Greek meatballs), spanakopita (spinach and feta cheese pie), lamb shank, lemon chicken, and mousaka (eggplant, ground beef, and potato).  There are the most delicious pastries, including baklava, diples, and kataifi.  Don’t pass up the Greek coffee!   There is Greek wine, beer, ouzo and brandy. Excellent musicians, The Hellenic Band, the St. John’s Dancers, and church tours provide wonderful entertainment.  Vendors offer jewelry, books, sunglasses, women’s clothing, and Greek artifacts.  Yia Yia’s Attic is a very nice Thrift Store.  We bought a lovely bouzouki vase for $1!  Kid’s activities include games, face painting, and rides such as the Ferris wheel, bounce house, and roller coaster.  There is enough activity to spend at least a couple of hours!  Parking is free, but there is a $3 admission for the music and dancing!  We all had a great time.  Check for next year’s dates.  We visited in mid-January.  Efharisto’!  (Thank you)
