Thundering Spirit Intertribal Pow Wow

    Thundering Spirit Intertribal Pow Wow

For one week end in March, the hills of Renninger's Flea Market in Mt. Dora, Fl (north of Orlando) are filled with the sounds and sights of Native Americans from all over the country.  Pow Wows are celebrations where Indians trade, dance, play music, tell stories, eat and socialize, and others are welcome to join them for the fun.  The Grand Entry will enthrall with its dancers!  Traditional, Prairie, Shawl, Aztec, and Jingle dance with the colors, textures, and music provide a feast for the eyes and ears.  The drum provides music.  There are vendors selling crafts, art, toys, musical instruments, CDs and more.  Two of our favorite musicians, Arvel Bird and Ed Winddancer performed this year, making this trip a special one!  Indian tacos, fry bread, buffalo burgers, and BBQ provide food for the hungry.   There is a tipi camp, a blacksmith, and other living history exhibits.   The Circle is sacred, so please don't cut across, walk around.  If you have questions, the Indians will help you. This is a great educational experience! Do be prepared to stand during the invocation and men are asked to remove their hats.  Admission is $4 for adults, and children are free.  Military personnel are free.  http://www.thunderingspiritfamily.com/
