Camelot Days – 2010

Huzzah, ‘tis the weekend of Camelot Days!  Merriment, feasting, and shopping for all!  Royalty, commoners, merchants, pirates, and fairies pass by and bid thee good day!

The entertainment ranges from a knighting ceremony for the kids to the adult humor of Johnny Phoenix’s last show of the day.  We enjoyed the music of the wondrous Celtic Mayhem, Empty Hats, and 3 pints Gone.  We laughed at the comedy of  The Da Vinci Brothers and Emrys Fleet the Rat Catcher.  We marveled at the Johnny Phoenix Danger Show.  We gobbled delicious crepes, corn on the cob, hot pretzels, and deep fried double stuffed Oreo cookies.   There were other foods, too:  rice, gyros, sausages, pastries, and more.  Mead, a traditional honeyed wine was served, along with beer, lemonade, soft drinks, iced tea, and water.  There were vendors with jewelry, fair-type clothing, toys, boots, soaps, oils, wooden carvings, and much more.   For the kids, there was a bounce house, quest, games, and face painting.  A live chess match, and court dancing were other forms of entertainment.  The Paladin Society provided living history!  The shire is on the shore of a lake, under the trees.

This is a fun filled day of adventure!  For $12 for adults, or $3 for children, it’s a bargain.  Kids 6 and under are free.  The Faire is held at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park in Hollywood, Fl, at the corner of Sheridan and North Park Rd, near the I-95 exit.
