Florida RenFest, 2010

Florida Renaissance Festival, Deerfield Beach, FL 2010

Welcome and Good Morrow to you!  Eat, drynk, and be merrie!  The Florida Renaissance Festival, or FLARF, runs for six weekends in February and March.  Twice a day good King Ferdinand and his lovely Queen Isabella process with their court and subjects throughout the village.  Jousting, birds of prey demonstrations, plays, magic, singing, music, juggling and comedy are ready when you are!  Fifteen stages, street entertainers, and impromptu conversations with the princess,  Pope’s daughter, privie cleaners, or a knight enrich the experience of being in the Renaissance.  Unique instruments like the heartstring bestow an extraordinary experience.  Living history demonstrations provide exceptional opportunities to learn.  How often can you ask the apothecary about herbs and medicines?  Or the blacksmith to explain his trade?  Or watch the glass blower in action?   For shoppers, period clothing, candles, scented oils, pewter pieces, children’s toys, fairies, pottery, artworks, weaponry, garden accessories, and wooden goblets are among the many, many items for sale.  When hunger hits, soup in a bread bowl, steak on a stake, shepherd’s pie, paella, pastries, arepas,  or crepes are some choices.  For those inclined, bawdy Renaissance entertainment is at the pub stage.  No young children, please!  Daily tickets are $20 for adults and $7 for kids.  Buying online can save $3. Season tickets are $50 for adults.  If you can go 3 or more times, it’s a bargain!  http://www.ren-fest.com/
