Dunedin Highland Games – 2010
Dundedin Highland Games 2010
Welcome tae Scootland! For one day, a bit of Dunedin, Fl becomes a wee bit of Scotland! There are competitions, music, shopping, food, and the clans! Tossing the caber, tug o’ war, and throwing the Dunedin stone are some of the fun and exciting game competitions. Dancers compete, too, in traditional Highland dances. There are demonstrations of the sheep herding border collies. Pipe and drum bands battle to win honors. In the lull between events, shop, eat, listen to music, and visit the clan tents. What to buy? Teapots, kilts, CDs, clan wear, sun catchers, dolls, books, tea, jams, and baked goods. What to eat? Meat pies, fish and chips, sticky toffee pudding, sausages, and cookies. Bands play both folk and modern Scottish music. Having a cold beer in the beer tent is a relaxing way to listen to music and take a break from the wandering. Don’t forget to stop by the clan tents and learn a thing or two about them. The New World Celts and the Scottish-American Society are happy to talk with you. We belong to Clan Young. Maybe you have a clan, too!
