Blue Nile Ethiopian Restaurant – Harrisonburg, VA
In a small, historic Southern town, most of us would think about food in terms of BBQ, biscuits, and grits. The Blue Nile in Harrisonburg, Va, is a superb surprise! This Ethiopian restaurant serves delicious regional cuisine with good service and bright Ethiopian accessories. Once an elegant hotel, later a Greyhound Bus depot, the building has been restored, with remnants of the original wallpaper on the pillars, tin tile ceiling, and wooden floors! The effect is appealing! We settled on the lunch buffet, because the food looking so appetizing! Food items include Kik Keye Wat, green split peas stewed with onions; Injerahin, pancake like, sour bread made from barley and Teff flour; and Misir Wat,red split lentils stewed with onions, garlic, ginger. We learned that “wat” means spicy. Everything was delicious, especially the peanut soup! This was our second experience with Ethiopian food, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. We’d definitely go back!
