Tennessee Back Roads – Winter

       Winter is a special time in Tennessee!  We wanted to check out the only resort in the area, Ober Gatlinburg.  In the summer, Gatlinburg is chock full of people.  It is the quintessential tourist town, but in winter is quieter.  Skiing, snowboarding, and tubing are offered at Ober Gatlinburg. It has a gondola, or tram, that takes riders to the top of the mountain and down again, for $10.  It is a spectacular view, especially when everything is covered in snow, and the flakes are swirling around. We even witnessed a white out!  Inside the resort, an ice skating rink, shopping, and restaurants, let sports enthusiasts get warm, and non sporters have plenty to do.  Outside is a Wildlife Encounter with bears and other native animals.   We wanted to tube, but bad weather prevented it, much to our dismay!  Rentals and instructions are provided.        http://www.obergatlinburg.com/     http://tennessee.gov/
